Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 5, 2026

This policy describes what data PracticalStack collects to run HiveNest and how we use it. We try to collect as little as possible and to be clear about the rest.

1. What this policy covers

This policy explains what information PracticalStack collects when you use our website, create an account, or activate a HiveNest license, and how we use it. We collect only what we need to sell and support the product.

2. Account and email data

When you create an account or contact us, we store your email address and any name you provide. Accounts are used to let you sign in and view the licenses tied to your email. Sign-in and license storage are handled with Supabase, which stores this data on our behalf.

3. License keys

We store the license keys we issue to you, along with your plan, status, and limits. Your license key identifies your subscription; it is shown to you in your account and inside the plugin (masked in logs and status screens).

4. Site activation data

When HiveNest activates or checks a license, the plugin sends a small amount of information to our license API so we can enforce your plan's site limit and support you:

  • The site URL / domain where the license is being activated.
  • The HiveNest plugin version.
  • The WordPress version.
  • The HivePress version (when available).

We use this to count activations against your license, show your activated sites in your account, and diagnose compatibility issues. We do not collect your listings, visitors' personal data, or the contents of your site through the plugin.

5. Payments

When online checkout becomes available, payments will be processed by Stripe. Stripe handles your card details directly — PracticalStack does not see or store your full payment card information.

From Stripe we keep identifiers needed to manage your subscription, such as your Stripe customer ID, subscription ID, and price/plan ID, along with the renewal date. These let us match a payment to your license. Stripe's own handling of your data is governed by Stripe's privacy policy.

6. Support messages

If you email us for support, we keep your message and our replies so we can help you and improve the product. Please avoid sending sensitive information (such as passwords) in support messages.

7. Cookies, sessions, and authentication

We use cookies and similar browser storage only where needed to run the site and keep you signed in — for example, an authentication session token after you log in. We do not use advertising trackers. Your browser can block or clear these, though signing in may not work without the session cookie.

8. How we use your data

  • To sell, deliver, and renew your license.
  • To activate licenses and enforce plan site limits.
  • To show your licenses and activated sites in your account.
  • To provide support and fix problems.
  • To keep our service secure and prevent abuse.

9. Who we share data with

We do not sell your data. We share it only with the services that run PracticalStack:

  • Supabase — account authentication and database storage.
  • Stripe — payment processing and subscription management (when checkout is live).
  • Hosting and infrastructure providers needed to run the website and API.

We may also disclose data where required by law.

10. Data retention

We keep account, license, and activation data for as long as your account or license is active, and for a reasonable period afterwards for records, support, and legal reasons. You can ask us to delete your account data; we may need to keep limited records (such as proof of purchase) where the law requires it.

11. Your choices and requests

You can ask us to access, correct, or delete your personal data, and you can deactivate a site's license from WordPress at any time. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under local data-protection law. To make a request, contact us using the details below.

12. Contact for privacy questions

For any privacy question or request, email support@practicalstack.dev or use the contact page. (This is a placeholder address until our production support inbox is finalized.)

These policies are written in plain English for transparency. They are not legal advice and do not claim to cover every situation. Where the law in your country or region gives you stronger rights, that law applies. Questions? Contact us.
